Who We Are
Founder and Host
Sherrese Carby is an empowerment public speaker, an author, child and youth counsellor, basketball coach, educator, entrepreneur and mother.
Sherrese's athletic background, Health and Physical Education Specialist OCT Designation, along with being the First Female Coach, to be a Men's Seniors Basketball team coaching staff member, within the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association -OSBA Prep Basketball, and having Head Coach of TDSB Senior Boys Basketball team experience, drives Sherrese's basketball lens, ever growing knowledge and affection, for the Game of Basketball. Moreover, being part of a community of brilliant basketball mega minds that are always willing and passionate about sharing their wealth of knowledge, serves to enhance Sherrese's continuously growing knowledge of the game.
Sherrese is passionate about seeing the development and actualization of one’s passions and potential. Sherrese also strongly believes, all moments are the right time and new beginnings can start, as soon as the choice is made. Sherrese is dedicated to supporting others in their pursuits of being their best self, while acknowledging the journey is filled with challenges and obstacles. Sherrese notes and lives believing, obstacles are exercises that make us stronger, trials teach us to be triumphant, and triumph awaits us all, if we choose to pursue it.

Paths of success are more smoothly travelled, when guidance and support is provided, so when Hidden Gems and Highlights sees this in action, it is noted and applauded. Nickeil Alexander-Walker, is one who provides words of wisdom, support and guidance; as he is observed sharing supportive feedback to Tristan Beckford, who has been affectionately referred to as Andrew Wiggins 2.0; Tristan is most certainly thriving and it has been said, by many esteemed within the game of basketball, Beckford is headed to the NBA league.
Foundation and Elevation
Over the years, Reesy has worked with and met a vast number of individuals, such as Shaedon Sharpe, who reach back, to where they are from, to give back to those coming up. Such individuals, have key impacts on our world and mass media.
Shared stories, goals, pursuits and passions, have shed light on important issues, sparked conversations, inspired action, served as motivation and a drive that causes others to believe, with work, dreams can become reality.
It has been a pleasure to be part of influencing lives positively and productively, through education, action and media coverage. Hidden Gems and Highlights is proud of the work that has been done and the team looks forward to making an even greater impact in the future.

Coaching is more than an act that is focused on winning games; effective and successful coaches understand, acknowledging and tending to the student athlete's entire self, produces the healthiest development of a participant. Thus, the role of coach is on and off the court, as well well, beyond the student athlete's starting point. Supporting a participant's maintenance of good mental health and lifestyle balance, is a key component for success overall.
Education Creates Options and Opportunities
An important element of the path, to high level athletic advancement that Reesy emphasizes is education.
The truth is, pathways such as, pursuits to D1 colleges, require astute academic performance.
Student athletes must remember, to fulfill the resilience required balance, between being both a successful student and athlete.
